Changing the Game Through a Catalyst Mindset

As many institutions of higher education are struggling to lower the barriers to a quality education, the library must evolve beyond devoting a few positions and a modicum of energy to “student success.” The work of libraries, including services, collections, and spaces, must be leveraged to even the playing field so that all students have an opportunity to belong and to shape their experiences. This environment and mindset is not achievable with current structures within libraries that ignore identity and social justice while legitimizing the status quo. This talk will focus on organization work that must be done to begin the transformation from a “service mindset” to a “catalyst mindset.”
